I've been on and off searching for a 4dr R32 GTST, especially after seeing someone on Oppo who got one. I'm not sure if I can go into importing one and everything, although it has been outlined thoroughly. But this one looks super clean, has a service history (sucks that it's in Japanese haha).

And if I were to really try and get this one, what's the best option for loans? Like is there business' that specialize in loans for cars like this or can I just go through my bank?

I'm pretty sure the answer for this is to pay cash. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone willing to give you money for a gray market car of questionable legality in the states. After all, they need to protect themselves in case you default. What good would a car be that could potentially be sent to the crusher. Besides the fact that we're talking about a 26 year old car.

That's too much money for what isn't a GT-R. Here are three GT-Rs with mileage listed for around that price FOB from Japan. Real GT-Rs, not some 4-door GTS-T Type M. You should be able to find an importer in California that will work with you, or maybe you can get a hold of Byrd or Ferrero1911 on here and ask them for advice. It is probably best to pay cash for this or go to your bank for a used auto loan, but be warned they aren't too keen on handing out $15,000 or so for a 25 year old vehicle that's not even sold here.

I'd be happy to help get you into a Skyline. I'm an importer located in Kentucky. It will be a couple months before we have stock in, but we can also help source vehicles as well. Last year we brought in an Aerocabin to use as a show car, and an MS51 Toyota Crown Coupe. It's getting a 2JZ swap now and will be for sale next month.

You probably won't be able to get a loan for a Skyline. There are some specialty companies that will lend for collector vehicles, but it's tough to get a loan through one.

As I'm sure you know, there are a few different ways to buy a Skyline. The one you posted has the advantage of being sold by a legitimate dealer, and you know exactly what you're paying for. The car's here, all the legwork is done, and you get a clear title to transfer to your state. It's one of the best ways to go in my opinion.

If you wanted an importer to help source you a vehicle, that's what we could do right now. We're going to do flat fee importing to make it easy to understand. That fee includes all costs involved in getting the vehicle to the US, titled, and ready for pickup at our lot in Kentucky. For cars with a purchase price in Japan of up to $10,000, the fee is $5000. Then another $500 for every $10,000 after that. The best deals to be had are at the auctions, so for example, if you bought a car that went for $7000 USD auction price, you would pay $12,000. We cover all purchase fees, international transport costs, and import fees/duties. The only other cost you would have are the fees to register it in your state, and shipping from our lot to your door if you don't pick it up. We would start a vehicle search with a deposit of $1000. We would then send you options of vehicles that come up at auction that meet your criteria. Once a car is selected, and purchase has been confirmed, %50 of the total price is due. The balance less the $1000 deposit is due when the vehicle is picked up at our lot. We think it's a simple way to know exactly what you're going to be paying when you make a decision to buy a car.

You can go it alone, and find an exporter to send you a car. Then you have to handle the import side by hiring a broker, paying customs, etc. I think there's value to having an importer do it for you. You just have to decide how much time you're willing to put in.

Our website is going to be updated soon, but you can find a little more info about us and the cars we brought in here:

Highly doubt you'll get a loan for this car. If you've got balls-out credit you can get an unsecured loan but I mean you've gotta have a freaking FANTASTIC credit history for that, and the rate will still be kinda high. If you're a homeowner with equity in your house you could take out a home equity loan to get some cash, but other than that you're going to just have to pay cash for a car like this.

I've heard GTS-Ts go for around ~$2,500 at auctions... Is this true? I just want one with a straight body, no rust and that'll be fine.

That's the bottom end of what they go for. At that price you're looking at cars that have been modified and abused, or stock and needing attention. $3500 will get you something better, but occasionally deals pop up...buying a later 1990 that has to wait in Japan for a little while can also be one way to save a little. I'll post a few examples below, these have all sold recently.

The car below went for about $3300. 2 door, 5 speed, It has paint issues but otherwise seems okay.

This one is a 4 door, 5 speed. Looks to be very clean, but sold for a premium. About $4750.

This one is a 4 door 5 speed, Sold for less than $3000, but it's not eligible to import until August. It's modified, has some paint issues, and I would have to had checked the translation to make sure it would be okay to bring in. You're supposed to bring the car in in it's original configuration. If there is too much going on under the hood we have to pass. Engine swaps like RB20->RB25 are a no go.

This one is bone stock, automatic, and has a few issues marked on the auction sheet. Looks like at least one of the rear fenders has been repainted, and the front driver fender has been replaced. It's an R grade, and probably was in an accident at some point. Went for about $2000 though.

This final one also looks like it was in a small accident, but is graded much better. It's a 3.5, has some paint issues, but is a 5 speed. Went for about $3500.

So you really get what you pay for, and if you're patient you can do ok. It's best to decide on your budget, then decide if you're okay with what that gets you. My advice is always to buy the best that you can afford.
